Workshops and Seminars

Guest speakers from industry, academia and government sectors are most welcome to share their insights and experience with USJ students through the Career Centre's series of workshops and seminars.  Such sharing is intended to help our students to take stock of their career interests, skills and knowledge that will enable their whole-person development beyond their discipline-specific education. Specifically, the workshops and seminars:

• equip students with a realistic understanding of the employment opportunities in Macau and the region
• prepare students for job search and entry into the job market
• give an orientation into entrepreneurship and starting a small business 
• introduce opportunities for further education beyond the Licentiate programmes

Career Portfolio Programme

The Portfolio Programme under the Career Centre is a specially tailored series of activities to assist students to:

1. understand potential career opportunities

2. reflect on their short term and intermediate career goals

3. develop a career plan

In each semester, students should:

•    create and maintain tools such as CVs and, where relevant, specialized components of a work portfolio to submit to potential employers

•    develop social networking and interview skills to promote themselves to their best advantage to prospective employers

Such tools and preparations will remain useful for our young graduates as they journey towards their dream careers! 

Full-time/Part-time Jobs

USJ students and graduates can offer prospective employers a range of academic knowledge and professional skills. Our pre-university, licentiate, masters and doctoral programmes prepare graduates for careers in many sectors ranging from Business and Government to Architecture, Design and Counseling. Students may also be able to take up part-time jobs to enhance their work experience. For the full range of USJ programmes, click here.

Internship Programme

The internship programme consists of a series of agreements with organizations in Macau to give students the opportunity to practise their skills and utilise the knowledge that they have gained through their courses. The aim is to have the students undertake full-time or part-time work experience during summer breaks or through the academic year.  These programmes are adjusted to suit the requirements of individual employers and students.

Through our Career Office surveys we know that students are keen to improve their skills and knowledge and to develop strong working relationships. We also understand that companies that offer meaningful tasks, feedback, learning opportunities, supervisor support and a great environment make the best internship partners.

Work experience is not limited to local organizations. Through our partnerships with development agencies we are able to offer positions overseas to those students who are unable to work locally.
